A Place to Enjoy Seasonal Scenery Welcome to Kashiwara City
Kashiwara City is located in the southeastern part of the Osaka Plain, on the border between Osaka and Nara Prefectures.
The city formed along the Yamato River, which gathers water from the Nara Basin and flows across the Kongō and Ikoma mountain ranges into the Osaka Plain.
Two-thirds of the city area is mountainous, and the Yamato River flows through its center.
Despite being only about 20 kilometers from central Osaka, the city boasts rich nature, including lush mountains, scenic valleys, and abundant river flows, making it a pleasant place to live.
Each season offers its own charm: koi streamers over the Yamato River in spring, the National Kawachi Ondo Dance Competition in summer, autumn foliage and grape picking, and seagulls dancing over the river in winter.
With a population of about 75,000, the city promotes development under the slogan: 'A vibrant and bustling city where citizens thrive.
Grape cultivation is a leading industry in Kashiwara, and during autumn, many tourists come to enjoy grape picking. Recently, the city has also focused on local wine production, gaining nationwide recognition.

Kashiwara also flourished as a producer of yukata fabric, once holding a 25% share of the national market.
The city is served by the Kintetsu Osaka Line and JR Yamatoji Line, connecting Osaka and Nara, making tourist access convenient. For drivers, the 'Kashiwara IC' on the Nishi-Meihan Expressway is often used.
Cycling tours using electric-assist sports bikes are also available, offering visits to vineyards, wineries, the Japan Heritage sites of 'Kamenose' and 'Tatsuta Ancient Road,' and various shrines and temples.
Kashiwara City's industry is
more than just grapes
